FAQ's

Question: We’ve never been to an HOA event. Is this open to any choir?
Answer: Absolutely! We believe this is a wonderful way for any group to garner the top tier feedback and educational opportunity HOA provides regardless of region, travel experience or national level competition in the past. Participate as little or as much as you like throughout the series and watch your group excel all while getting highly educational feedback from our nationally recognized adjudicators.

Question: Who are the adjudicators for these events?
Answer: HOA has always, and will continue to use, a broad range of highly qualified individuals who have first-hand knowledge and expertise in the field as our adjudicators. Many are former (or current) directors, arrangers, choreographers and other industry professionals themselves. Additionally, we recognize the importance of selecting a geographically diverse group of individuals for our live events and will continue to do so for our virtual events in ‘21.

Question: What feedback will my group receive from: Prelims, Semi-Finals and Finals?
Answer: Recorded comments and individual score sheets will be given to each group from the prelim weekends. Recorded comments, score sheets and full event recap sheets will be shared for both Semi-Finals and Finals.

Question: How many groups will advance to the LIVE Finals?
Answer: Honestly, we just don’t know. Participation levels will have a great deal to do with determining the Finals number. We do know we will showcase and celebrate as many groups as we can during the Finals LIVE broadcast!

Question: Can my concert choir participate?
Answer: Absolutely! The concert choir portion of our live events continues to grow each season and Virtual HOA ‘21 is no exception. In fact, in many instances the concert choir budget or numbers of singers often make travel for these groups challenging. With Virtual HOA ’21, you can participate directly from your classroom or home stage!
